Le fils prodigue (1955)
70 avant J.C. Le juif Micah tombe amoureux de la prêtresse d'Astarté, Samarra. Il quitte sa famille pour la vie de débauche de Damas, et se soumet à tous les caprices de Samarra. Il est réduit en esclavage par Nahreeb, le grand prêtre de Baal. Lorsque Samarra lui demande d'abjurer publiquement sa foi, Micah refuse et participe à une révolte au cours de laquelle Nahreeb est pendu par le peuple et Samarra périt dans un brasier destiné aux sacrifices humains. Repentant, Micah retourne chez son père qui tue le veau gras en signe de pardon...
