En 1919, le lieutenant André Laroche, alias Arsène Lupin, est en convalescence après avoir été blessé à la guerre. À l'hôpital, il fait la rencontre d'une Roumaine, la belle Aurélia Valéano. Une fois guéri, il reprend ses anciennes activités. Le vol de trois tableaux commis par un adversaire, le mène malgré lui à la recherche du trésor de l'Ordre de la Toison d’or, dont Aurélia cherche à s’emparer. Isidore, un très jeune journalise, s'intéresse aussi à Lupin et crois avoir levé sa véritable identité...
