La petite Emily a été enlevée il y a une dizaine d'années. Sa maman, Kate, et sa sœur, Lily, vivent désormais seules dans leur maison. Mais un appel de la police les informe qu'Emily a échappé à son ravisseur. Emily, qui a bien grandi, va pouvoir retrouver sa famille. Mais plus les choses avancent, plus Lily soupçonne Emily de ne pas être sa sœur disparue. Kate soutient Emily pour convaincre sa fille qu'elle est bien de retour. Un secret plus sombre se cache derrière cette fin soi-disant heureuse...
