The Bay of Love and Sorrows (2002)
La Baie de l'Amour et des Douleurs est une tragédie moderne obsédante qui se déroule sur les rives rurales de la baie de Miramichi au Nouveau-Brunswick. À la fin de l'été 1973, Michael Skid, le fils d'un juge aisé, rentre chez lui et loue une ferme délabrée. Il commence à répandre l'évangile des idéaux communautaires, qu'il a absorbés lors de ses voyages en Inde. Sa nouvelle mondanité et ses nouvelles idées vont bien avec ses frères et sœurs pauvres Madonna et Silver Brassaurd et la désespérément naïve Carrie. Ils passent moins bien avec Tom Donnerel, un jeune fermier et le fiancé de Carrie. Blessé par la dérision de Tom, Michael se lie d'amitié avec l'ex-détenu Everette Hatch, qui, reconnaissant l'opportunité, exploite les idées de Michael à son avantage. Se croyant capable de comprendre les gens de l'autre côté de la piste, Michael ne parvient pas à reconnaître que l'ex-détenu le manipule et déclenche ainsi une chaîne d'événements catastrophiques dans la communauté.
