Il était une fois, en Afrique australe, un bébé suricate répondant au nom de Kolo. Ce petit animal carnivore, malin et joueur, va devoir braver la sècheresse et de dangereux prédateurs afin de relever le plus grand défi de sa vie: retrouver ses parents, ses frères et ses soeurs. A travers sa touchante histoire, nous découvrirons aussi la lutte de son espèce pour survivre dans l'immense et somptueuse savane.
