Les Cavaliers (1959)
Pendant la guerre de Sécession, le colonel nordiste John Marlowe est chargé d'ouvrir la route du Sud. Son plan consiste à atteindre la ville de ravitaillement du camp adverse, Newton Station, de saborder la voie ferrée et de brûler armes et vivres. Le colonel mise sur un atout principal : la rapidité. Mais il se voit affecter un médecin, le major Kendall, qui va le ralentir dans sa mission. En constante opposition, les deux hommes se surveillent et se haïssent au grand jour. Une prisonnière sudiste, Hannah Hunter, détourne l'attention des duellistes…
