Les jurés du procès d'un serial killer, surnommé le meurtrier de minuit et condamné à mort, décèdent les uns après les autres dans d'étranges circonstances, presque surnaturelles. Laura est la cinquième sur la liste. Avec l'aide du policier Michael Lyons, elle mène une enquête dangereuse et pleine de rebondissements. Serait-ce l'esprit du tueur qui revient ? Ont-ils condamné la bonne personne ?
