Dans un monde où vampires et humains vivent en harmonie grâce à de strictes règles de coexistence, le fragile équilibre entre les deux groupes semble menacé. En effet, depuis peu, un vampire nommé Edgar conteste ouvertement les fondements de la religion dominante. Frère Silus, un vampire aux méthodes expéditives, et Lilly, une humaine aux talents multiples, se voient confier la tâche délicate de neutraliser Edgar.
