Le « Ceres Crossroad » est un bar de bouseux de la ceinture d’astéroïdes. Les rednecks galactiques s’y retrouvent les samedi soirs pour vider des pils,échanger des vannes et organiser des concours de danse. Mais ce soir la porte s’ouvre sur le scaphandre de Samuel Curtis, aventurier à rouflaquettesvenu troquer un chat contre une « fille véritable ». Il ignore que son ennemi juré, le professeur Hess, est dans un coin la salle. Et que tout le monde a encore oublié de lui souhaiter son anniversaire…
