Jane mène une vie paisible avec sa fille et son mari. Le seul point noir de son existence reste les cauchemars récurrents qu'elle fait à propos de l'eau, dont elle a la phobie maladive. Un jour, sa sœur sort au bout de 15 ans de l'hôpital psychiatrique dans lequel elle était enfermée. Dès le retour de Cassidy, la petite famille voit son quotidien bouleversé...
