Albert Dooley, un scientifique, prend de pitié un canard qui a été exposé à de la radioactivité pendant un test de comportement. L'employeur d'Albert veut que l'animal disparaisse, mais Albert décide de l'adopter et d'en prendre soin chez lui. Son fils Jimmy adopte le canard et l'appelle Charley bien qu'il s'agisse d'une femelle. Quand Charley considère la piscine des voisins comme un étang, elle se fait poursuivre par leur chien. Ces émotions ont tant perturbé la pauvre Charley que celle-ci pond quelques oeufs. A la grande surprise d'Albert les jaunes d'oeufs s'avèrent être en or...
