Kristin a trente-quatre ans. Elle vit à New York et travaille dans la musique. Elle rentre chez elle munie d’une bouteille de champagne offerte par un mystérieux épicier, décidée à boire et à passer Noël seule. Après avoir bu quelques gorgées de ce breuvage, elle sombre dans un sommeil profond et se réveille miraculeusement chez ses parents, dans sa chambre de petite fille, en face d’elle-même ! Nous sommes en 1996, son double a dix-sept ans et il s’agit du fameux Noël où toute sa vie a changé. Kristin y voit une occasion inespérée de modifier son futur afin qu’il soit, enfin, heureux et surtout qu’elle ne soit plus si désespérément seule.
