Jeune Américain de neuf ans, Tony Thompson a beaucoup de mal à s'adapter à sa nouvelle vie dans une petite ville d'Ecosse, où son père a été envoyé pour construire un complexe touristique et un golf. Un soir, Tommy fait la connaissance d'un vampire du même âge que lui, Rudolph. Celui-ci ne représente aucun danger, car pour éviter les persécutions des humains, sa famille ne se nourrit plus que de sang de vache.
