Dans la petite banlieue de Black Falls réside Toe Tompson, un jeune garçon de 11 ans qui n'a pas beaucoup d'amis, qui est harcelé par Helvetica Black et sa bande, et qui rêve de changer tout cela pour le mieux. Un jour, une pierre multicolore tombe du ciel et se retrouve entre ses mains. Cette pierre magique a la particularité d'exaucer tous les souhaits de celui qui la possède. C'est la chance qu'attendait Toe pour changer sa vie, se faire des amis, réunir ses parents obsédés par le travail, et libérer la banlieue du joug de Mr. Black, l'industriel antipathique qui emploie justement l'ensemble des résidants de la banlieue…
