Abraham (1993)
Abraham vit avec sa famille et sa femme Sarah dans la ville d'Harân, lorsqu'il reçoit un message de Dieu : il doit partir pour Canaan, la Terre Promise, où lui est annoncée une nombreuse descendance. Lorsqu'Abraham se réfugie en Égypte, Sarah entre de force dans le harem du Pharaon. Alors que la famille royale tombe subitement malade, Abraham, mis en cause, est expulsé d’Égypte avec les siens. Sarah, affligée par sa stérilité, offre à Abraham sa servante égyptienne, Hagar, comme concubine. Ismaël naît de leur union et devient le fils de Sarah. Plus tard, Dieu rend visite à Abraham alors très âgé et lui prédit que Sarah lui donnera un enfant. Et Isaac vient au monde. Mais de peur de voir son fils se disputer la succession d'Abraham, Sarah renvoie Ismaël et sa mère. Dieu exige alors qu'Abraham sacrifie sont fils Isaac. Au moment où il lève son couteau, un ange intervient...
