Quand sa tante Lucille, enfin débarrassée de son abject mari, arrive au cours de l'été 1965 au fin fond de l'Alabama, c'est le début d'un grand changement dans la vie de Peejoe qui a tout juste douze ans. Lucille veut désormais se consacrer à son rêve : tenter sa chance et devenir une star à Hollywood.
