Le meurtre que je n'ai pas commis (1993)
La police, convaincue que Laurie a assassiné l'ex-épouse de son mari, jette la jeune femme en prison. Elle a beau clamer son innocence, le juge la condamne à dix ans de réclusion. William Bryson, un journaliste qui a assisté au procès, ne se satisfait pas du verdict. Il reprend l'enquête à son compte, rend visite à tous les témoins, renoue tous les fils et découvre, effaré, que Laurie est bien innocente et qu'elle a été victime d'un véritable complot, ourdi par la police. En prison, Laurie s'est éprise du frère de l'une de ses codétenues, Nick. Persuadée de ne jamais obtenir la révision de son procès, elle prépare son évasion avec l'aide de son amant.
