Mariée à un homme violent, Hélène perd tout espoir lorsqu'elle se sent également abandonnée par Dieu. Lorsqu'elle rencontre le célèbre psychologue Eduard E.Gluck, elle voit en lui la possibilité d’une libération. Une irrésistible attirance naît entre ces deux êtres en apparence opposés. Mais le charismatique Gluck combat lui-même ses propres démons, qui viendront ébranler la foi d’Hélène. Porté par un casting de haut vol, un conte moderne sur la recherche du bonheur.
