Drame

Bruce Pearson, joueur de baseball dans l'équipe new-yorkaise des Mammouths, a pour meilleur ami la star du club, Henry Wiggen. Au cours de vacances passées ensemble, Henry découvre que son ami est atteint d'une leucémie. Il décide de garder la vérité pour lui et menace même son coach de quitter les Mammouths si le contrat de Bruce n'est pas renouvelé. L'équipe devient de plus en plus performante et Bruce participe à la victoire finale sur Pittsburgh. Mais trop affaibli, ce sera son dernier match.
