A l'angle du monde (1937)
Les habitants d'une petite île des Hébrides au large de l'Ecosse, assaillis par de multiples difficultés, envisagent d'abandonner les lieux pour chercher une vie meilleure sur le continent. Certains pourtant préfèrent préserver leur mode de vie traditionnel. Le différend fait l'objet d'une compétition entre deux amis, Andrew et Robbie, dont l'un aime la soeur de l'autre. L'épreuve choisie, l'escalade d'une falaise abrupte à mains nues, met leur vie en péril.
