Idomeneo [The Metropolitan Opera] (2017)
Le premier chef-d'œuvre de Mozart est revenu au Met pour la première fois en plus d'une décennie avec le directeur musical émérite James Levine, qui a dirigé la première compagnie de l'œuvre en 1982, à nouveau sur le podium. Le ténor Matthew Polenzani apporte à la fois une détermination d'acier et une chaleur compatissante au titre de roi de Crète, qui est confronté à une décision impossible. Avec sa riche mezzo-soprano, Alice Coote interprète le rôle pantalon du fils d'Idomeneo, Idamante, amoureux de la princesse troyenne Ilia, chanté avec un lyrisme délicat par Nadine Sierra. Elza van den Heever donne un portrait passionnant et déséquilibré de la jalouse Elettra. La production intemporelle de Jean Pierre-Ponnelle mêle la grandeur du mythe antique à l'élégance des idéaux des Lumières.
