Tchaikovsky - La Belle au bois dormant (2017)
La Belle au bois dormant occupe une place particulière dans le répertoire du Royal Ballet. C'est avec ce ballet que la compagnie a rouvert le Royal Opera House en 1946 après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, sa première production dans son nouveau siège de Covent Garden. Margot Fonteyn interprétait le rôle de la belle princesse Aurore lors de la première représentation, aux côtés de Robert Helpmann dans le rôle du prince Florimund. Soixante ans plus tard, en 2006, la mise en scène originale de 1946 a été reprise par Monica Mason, alors directrice du Royal Ballet, et Christopher Newton, ramenant sur scène les magnifiques décors et les costumes scintillants d’Oliver Messel.
