Les origines de la série classique sont explorées avec de nouvelles interviews mettant en vedette le personnel de la distribution et de la production, combinées à des scènes supprimées récemment trouvées, des angles alternatifs, des prises, des moments dans les coulisses et des éléments d'effets visuels originaux pour raconter l'histoire définitive de la fabrication et de l'héritage durable de la création de Gene Roddenberry.
