Une terrible maladie, qui se transmet par voie sexuelle, a fait son apparition sur le continent américain. L'agent infectieux, d'une virulence stupéfiante, a déjà causé la mort d'une grande partie de la population. Pour enrayer le fléau, les personnes contaminées sont séquestrées dans des camps d'où elles ne pourront plus sortir. Un groupe d'individus, spécialement chargé de traquer d'éventuels porteurs du germe mortel, sème la panique à tous les coins de rue, déterminé qu'il est à ne laisser passer personne entre les mailles de son filet. Mais quelques rebelles, motivés par l'amour et épris de liberté, résistent...
