Il se nomme Thomas Roy. C'est l'écrivain le plus adulé du Québec. Invité régulier des talk-shows, la parution de ses romans d'horreur est toujours un événement médiatique majeur. Or, voici qu'on le retrouve chez lui, horriblement mutilé et catatonique. Tentative de meurtre ou suicide manqué ?Pendant que la police enquête, Roy est placé en observation dans un hôpital de Montréal. Paul Lacasse, le psychiatre qui traite l'écrivain, considère au départ le cas comme assez banal. La découverte de faits troublants l'oblige cependant à reconsidérer petit à petit son opinion.Bientôt, ce sont toutes ses certitudes, tant personnelles que professionnelles, qui chancellent. Car, au-delà du drame de Roy, quelque chose de terrifiant se dévoile lentement, quelque chose d'inimaginable et aux conséquences monstrueuses...Sur le seuil : un suspense d'une redoutable efficacité, écrit par celui que plusieurs considèrent déjà comme le maître du roman d'horreur québécois.
