A Man of No Importance (1994)
Alfie Byrne est un conducteur de bus d'âge mûr à Dublin en 1963. Il semble mener une vie marquée par un désespoir tranquille : il est gay, mais cache soigneusement son orientation sexuelle, et sa sœur ne cesse de chercher à lui trouver la fille idéale. Il est passionné par Oscar Wilde et se consacre à monter des pièces de théâtre amateur dans la salle paroissiale locale. Nous le suivons alors qu’il est confronté à la tentation, à l’amitié, à la désapprobation et au monde conservateur mais étrangement lyrique de l’Irlande du début des années 1960.
