L'innocence perdue, l'histoire de Nancy Ziegenmeyer (1992)
En 1988, aux Etats-Unis. Nancy Ziegenmeyer, constatant la faillite de son couple, quitte son mari et son encombrante belle-mère. Cependant, après mûre réflexion, elle regagne le domicile conjugal. Le lendemain de son retour, elle est agressée et violée par un individu qui lui subtilise son argent puis disparaît après avoir pris note de son adresse. Elle se rend à l'hôpital mais renonce à porter plainte, de peur que son agresseur ne s'en prenne à sa progéniture. La police, néanmoins, ouvre une enquête, qui ne donne d'ailleurs aucun résultat. Nancy, partagée entre la colère et la culpabilité, sombre lentement dans la dépression. Elle finit par se confier à une journaliste, Geneva, qui prépare un livre sur le drame du viol
