Le Prince Jean a usurpé le trône du Roi d'Angleterre. Pendant que Richard Coeur de Lion, le Roi légitime, est retenu prisonnier en Autriche. Le shérif de Nottingham et son cousin Guy de Gisbourne ont la charge de renforcer la loi et l'autorité de l'usurpateur dans le nord du pays.
