Belinda est sourde muette. Avec l'aide du docteur Richardson, elle apprend l'alphabet des sourds-muets. Un soir, elle est violée par Locky, un voyou et se retrouve enceinte. Locky tue le père de Belinda. Belinda est heureuse d'être mère mais Locky, marié entre temps, réclame l'enfant. Elle le tue mais est acquittée grâce à la femme de Locky.
