Les Poupées de l'espoir (1984)
Jane Fonda donne une performance qui a remporté un Emmy dans le rôle de Gertie Nevels, une femme pionnière et mère de cinq enfants des collines du Kentucky qui est obligée de déraciner ses enfants pour suivre son mari Clovis (Levon Helm) à Detroit lorsqu'il trouve du travail pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Les revers se succèdent et une tragédie bouleversante frappe la famille. C'est à Gertie de trouver une nouvelle force, un nouveau courage et une nouvelle détermination pour garder sa famille unie et forte.
