Femmes en miroir (2003)
Sans nouvelles de sa fille Miwa depuis 24 ans, Ai Kawase apprend par la mairie de sa ville que la jeune femme habite tout près de son domicile mais qu'elle a changé d'identité pour s'appeler dorénavant Masako Ogami. Elle a été identifiée grâce au carnet de santé qu'elle portait sur elle. Bouleversée par ces retrouvailles pour le moins inattendues, Ai en informe immédiatement son ami Gouda, ancien employé de l'état civil, et rappelle au pays sa petite-fille Natsuki, laquelle suit pour l'instant des études aux Etats-Unis. A force de rencontres et d'interrogations, Ai, Masako et Natsuki retournent ensemble à Hiroshima pour reconstruire leur histoire.
