Forrester se conduit de façon téméraire au sein de son groupe de bombardiers depuis qu'il a perdu son épouse. Une jeune Birmane tente de lui redonner goût a la vie. C'est en sauvant de la mort un camarade, alors qu'ils ont du atterrir en territoire japonais, que Forrester retrouvera sa sérénité.
