Victor Hugo à Guernesey, exil et création (2019)
De sa maison de Guernesey, Victor Hugo disait qu’elle visait à « l’éducation de l’esprit par la demeure ». À l’occasion de la restauration de Hauteville House, rouverte au public en avril 2019 après dix-huit mois de travaux,ce documentaire dévoile un aspect méconnu de la créativité de l’écrivain : son patient travail de décorateur, écho à son oeuvre littéraire et à ses réflexions sur l’exil. A la fois baroque, sombre ou lumineuse, mystérieuse ou ostentatoire, toujours surprenante, Hauteville House se dresse tel un « autographe à trois étages », un portrait du poète en trois dimensions.Les rencontres avec les restaurateurs d’art et les conservateurs permettent d’entrer dans l’intimité de l’œuvre de Victor Hugo, tant sur le plan symbolique, qu’artistique.
