L'Incendie de Chicago (1938)
La famille O'Leary se rend à Chicago dans le but d'y faire fortune. Hélas, au cours du voyage, le père meurt accidentellement, victime de son imprudence. Pour élever ses enfants, Molly, la mère, devient blanchisseuse. Devenus adultes, ces derniers ont des ambitions diverses : Dion ouvre un saloon, Jack devient avocat et Bob, le moins ambitieux, rêve simplement d'un mariage heureux. Mais c'est sans compter sur le mauvais sort qui va contrarier leurs désirs, d'autant plus que c'est leur mère qui va, accidentellement, mettre le feu à la ville...
