Le jour de l’anniversaire de la mort de son père, Chloé part en cachette faire de la randonnée dans le parc national du Cri du loup, selon leur ancienne tradition. Mais cette fois, elle est aux côtés de Mackenzie, sa meilleure amie, une jeune femme rebelle et provocatrice. Lorsque sa mère découvre qu’elle a disparu, elle est convaincue qu'elle est en danger. Mais qui va la croire quand tout semble indiquer qu’il s’agit d’une simple fugue ? Quel rôle a joué Mackenzie dans la disparition de son amie ? Sa mère doit faire preuve de beaucoup de détermination et d’intuition pour découvrir ce qui est arrivé à sa fille et la sauver...
