Biographie:

Leslie Uggams, née le 25 mai 1943 à New York, est une actrice et chanteuse américaine. Débutant enfant dans les années 1950 à l'Apollo Theater et à la télévision (*Beulah*), elle étudie à la Juilliard School. Elle triomphe à Broadway avec la comédie musicale *Hallelujah, Baby!* (1967), remportant un Theatre World Award et le Tony Award de la meilleure actrice dans une comédie musicale en 1968. Elle remporte également un Daytime Emmy Award en 1983. Elle anime sa propre émission variété *The Leslie Uggams Show* (1969) et se distingue dans la minisérie *Roots* (1977), incarnant Kizzy et obtenant des nominations aux Emmy et Golden Globe Awards. Au cinéma, elle apparaît dans *Skyjacked* (1972), *Black Girl* (1972) et plus récemment comme Blind Al dans *Deadpool* (2016), *Deadpool 2* (2018) et *Deadpool & Wolverine* (2024). À la télévision, elle joue dans *Empire* (2016-2020). Mariée depuis 1965 à Grahame Pratt, avec qui elle a deux enfants, Leslie Uggams réside aux États-Unis.
