Né le 15 octobre 1969 à Sheffield, en Angleterre, Dominic West est un acteur britannique aux origines irlandaises. Formé à l'Eton College puis au Trinity College de Dublin, il obtient son diplôme de la Guildhall School of Music and Drama en 1995. Il débute au cinéma dans *Richard III* (1995) d'Ian McKellen, avant d'enchaîner les seconds rôles dans des productions britanniques et américaines. La consécration internationale arrive avec le rôle du détective Jimmy McNulty dans la série *Sur écoute* (HBO, 2002–2008), unanimement saluée par la critique. Il confirme sa polyvalence dans *Chicago* (2002), *300* (2007) et *Tomb Raider* (2018). À la télévision, il reçoit un BAFTA pour *Appropriate Adult* (2011) et obtient des nominations aux Golden Globes pour *The Hour* et *The Affair* (2014–2019). Il incarne Jean Valjean dans *Les Misérables* (BBC, 2018) et le prince Charles dans *The Crown* (Netflix, 2022–2023), rôle qui lui vaut une nomination aux Emmy Awards.
