Jon Bernthal est un acteur américain né le 20 septembre 1976 à Washington, D.C. Issu d'une famille juive ashkénaze, fils d'un avocat et petit-fils du musicien Murray Bernthal, il grandit dans la région de Washington avant d'étudier le théâtre à la Moscow Art Theatre School en Russie, puis à l'Institute for Advanced Theater Training de Harvard (diplômé en 2002). Il débute au théâtre à New York et apparaît dans des séries comme Law & Order avant d'obtenir un rôle régulier dans The Class (2006-2007). Il accède à la notoriété avec le rôle de Shane Walsh dans les deux premières saisons de la série The Walking Dead (2010-2012, retour en 2018). Il incarne ensuite Frank Castle / The Punisher dans Daredevil (saison 2, 2016), la série dérivée The Punisher (2017-2019) et Daredevil: Born Again (2025), rôle salué pour son intensité. Au cinéma, il brille dans The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), Fury (2014), Sicario (2015), Baby Driver (2017), Ford v Ferrari (2019), King Richard (2021) et The Many Saints of Newark (2021). Il joue Mikey Berzatto dans The Bear (depuis 2022), performance qui lui vaut un Primetime Emmy Award. Marié à Erin Angle depuis 2010, il est père de trois enfants. Acteur physique et charismatique, il excelle dans les rôles complexes et intenses, tout en animant le podcast Real Ones depuis 2022.
