Sophie Okonedo, née le 11 août 1968 à Londres, est une actrice britannique formée à la Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Elle débute au cinéma en 1991 dans Young Soul Rebels et alterne rôles secondaires et premiers rôles dans des films tels que Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Dirty Pretty Things, The Secret Life of Bees, Skin ou encore Hotel Rwanda, pour lequel elle est nominée à l’Oscar du meilleur second rôle. À la télévision, elle se distingue dans des séries et mini-séries comme Mrs Mandela, Ratched, Criminal: UK, The Wheel of Time, et Flack. Elle joue aussi sur scène, remportant le Tony Award pour A Raisin in the Sun et étant acclamée dans des productions telles que The Crucible et Antony and Cleopatra.
