Stanley J. « Tiny » Sandford (26 février 1894 – 29 octobre 1961) était un acteur grand et costaud, surtout connu pour ses rôles dans les films de Laurel et Hardy et de Charlie Chaplin. Il était généralement cantonné aux rôles de méchant comique, incarnant souvent des policiers, des portiers, des boxeurs ou des brutes. Sandford est né à Osage, dans l'Iowa. Après avoir travaillé dans des troupes de théâtre, il a commencé sa carrière au cinéma vers 1910. Il a joué dans La Ruée vers l'or avec Charlie Chaplin, qui est devenu l'un de ses meilleurs amis. Parmi ses films avec Charlie Chaplin, on peut citer Le Cirque (1928) et Les Temps modernes (1936), où il interprète « Big Bill ». Ses films avec Laurel et Hardy incluent Big Business (1929), Double Whoopee (1929), Le Chimpanzé (1932) et Nos relations (1936). Sandford a également joué dans Way Out West, mais sa scène a été coupée au montage. Il est aussi apparu dans des drames tels que Le Champion du monde (1922) et Le Masque de fer (1929). Il a pris sa retraite d'acteur en 1940, année où il a tenu un tout petit rôle dans Le Dictateur de Charlie Chaplin. Il est décédé à Los Angeles, en Californie, le 29 octobre 1961.
