Nehemiah Persoff (2 août 1919 – 5 avril 2022) était un acteur américain de cinéma et de télévision. Il est né à Jérusalem, alors sous mandat britannique. Né dans ce qui fait aujourd'hui partie d'Israël, Persoff a émigré avec sa famille aux États-Unis en 1929. Il a commencé à s'intéresser au théâtre dans les années 1940 et, après avoir servi dans l'armée pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il a entamé une carrière d'acteur au théâtre à New York. En 1947, il a été admis à l'Actors Studio et a finalement commencé à apparaître dans des films. Parmi ses films, on peut citer : Sur les quais, Certains l'aiment chaud, Al Capone, La Plus Grande Histoire jamais contée, Le Voyage des damnés, Les Comancheros, Yentl (où il interprète le père du personnage de Barbra Streisand), Jumeaux et Fievel et le Nouveau Monde (série de films d'animation) (voix : « Papa Mousekewitz »). Persoff a fait des apparitions dans des séries télévisées telles que *Five Fingers* (« Le Moment de vérité »), *The Big Valley* (« La Légende d'un général », parties I et II), *La Quatrième Dimension* (« La Nuit du jugement »), *Alfred Hitchcock présente* (« Cœur d'or »), *Les Incorruptibles*, *Naked City*, *La Légende de Jesse James*, *Gunsmoke*, *Les Mystères de l'Ouest*, *Hawaii Five-O*, *Ellery Queen* (« L'Aventure de la malédiction du pharaon »), *Mission : Impossible* (3 épisodes), *Adam-12* (« Vendetta »), *Drôles de dames*, *Hunter*, *Columbo*, *Star Trek : La Nouvelle Génération*, *Magnum*, *New York, police judiciaire* et *Chicago Hope*. Au milieu des années 1980, Persoff s'est consacré à la peinture, se spécialisant dans l'aquarelle. À cette époque, des problèmes de santé l'ont contraint à réduire son activité d'acteur.
