Diplômé de psychologie de l’université de Princeton en 1992, Craig Mazin travaille dans le marketing chez Walt Disney Pictures. Il devient ensuite scénariste de nombreuses comédies ("Rocketman", "Senseless", "Scary Movie 3, "Very Bad Trip 2" etc). A partir de 2017, il se tourne vers l'écriture de séries télévisées pour HBO avec "Chernobyl" puis "The Last of Us".
