Né le 7 décembre 1976 à La Nouvelle-Orléans, Louisiana, Mark Duplass est une figure incontournable du cinéma indépendant américain. Acteur, réalisateur, scénariste et producteur, il forge sa réputation aux côtés de son frère Jay au sein du mouvement dit "mumblecore", caractérisé par des tournages à très petits budgets, une forte improvisation et un naturalisme revendiqué. Ensemble, les frères Duplass fondent leur société de production en 1996 et signent plusieurs films remarqués : La Chaise gonflable (2005), Cyrus (2010) ou Jeff, maman a un amant (2011). Côté séries, ils cocréent Togetherness (HBO, 2015) et Room 104 (HBO, 2017). En tant qu'acteur, Mark Duplass se distingue notamment dans la franchise horrifique Creep (2014, 2017), puis dans The Morning Show sur Apple TV+, où il campe le personnage de Charlie "Chip" Black. Ce rôle lui vaut deux nominations aux Primetime Emmy Awards dans la catégorie Meilleur acteur de soutien dans une série dramatique. Marié à l'actrice Katie Aselton depuis 2006, avec qui il a eu deux filles, il est également le chanteur du groupe indie rock Volcano, I'm Still Excited !!
