Denzel Washington est un acteur et réalisateur américain né le 28 décembre 1954 à Mount Vernon (État de New York). Connu pour ses films engagés comme Malcolm X, Hurricane Carter, Flight, Le Plus beau des Combats, The Great Debathers ou encore Philadelphia, il est le deuxième Afro-Américain, après Sidney Poitier, à avoir remporté l'Oscar du meilleur acteur, pour son rôle de policier ripoux dans le thriller Training Day. Il a également reçu l'Oscar du Meilleur Acteur dans un Second Rôle pour Glory, ainsi que le Cecil B DeMille Awards pour l'ensemble de sa carrière en 2016. Il a reçu au total pas moins de 7 nominations aux Oscars dont 2 remportés, 8 nominations aux Golden Globes dont 2 remportés, ainsi que 26 nominations aux Images Awards et 16 remportés.
