Chiwetelu Umeadi "Chiwetel" Ejiofor (né le 10 juillet 1977) est un acteur anglais. Il a fréquenté la London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, mais a dû partir au bout d'un an après avoir reçu le rôle d'Ens, dans le drame historique de Steven Spielberg, "Amistad". Pour son premier rôle principal au cinéma dans Dirty Pretty Things, il a remporté un British Independent Film Award du meilleur acteur. Il a interprété Othello dans de nombreuses productions scéniques, notamment au Bloomsbury Theatre, au Theatre Royal de Glasgow et à Donmar Warehouse. Il a fait ses débuts en tant que réalisateur dans le court métrage Slapper, qu'il a également écrit. Il est rapidement devenu célèbre après avoir enchaîné avec des rôles plus importants dans "Inside Man" (2005), "American Gangster" (2007), "Children of Men" et "12 Years a Slave" de Steve McQueen (2012).
