L'actrice anglaise Gemma Arterton a remporté son premier rôle professionnel alors qu'elle était encore à l'école de théâtre, dans le drame Capturing Mary de la BBC, écrit et réalisé par Stephen Poliakoff. Arterton a fait ses débuts sur scène dans le rôle de Rosaline dans la production de Love's Labour's Lost de Shakespeare's Globe Theatre en juillet 2007 avant d'obtenir son diplôme plus tard cette année-là. Gemma a également fait ses débuts sur grand écran dans le film St Trinian's en 2007 en tant que Head Girl Kelly. Arterton a été vu dans le film de James Bond, Quantum of Solace (2008), ainsi que dans Clash of the Titans (2010) et Prince of Persia : The Sands of Time (2010). En 2011, elle a été récompensée pour sa performance dans Tamara Drewe et The Disappearance of Alice Creed, deux fois nominée pour un prix par la British Academy of Film and Television Arts. Arterton a épousé Stefano Catelli lors d'une cérémonie secrète à Zuheros, en Espagne, en juin 2010.
