Biographie:

Melissa Leo est une actrice américaine. Ses débuts d'actrice ont eu lieu en 1985, ce qui lui a valu une nomination aux Daytime Emmy Awards de la meilleure ingénue/femme dans la série dramatique « La Force du Destin ». Son rôle le plus marquant a été celui du sergent-détective Kay Howard dans « Homicide : La vie dans la rue » pendant les cinq premières saisons de la série, de 1993 à 1997. Après plusieurs films, Leo a été saluée par la critique et a attiré l'attention nationale, obtenant plusieurs nominations et récompenses, dont une nomination à l'Oscar de la meilleure actrice. Elle a remporté plusieurs prix pour son rôle d'Alice Ward dans le film acclamé par la critique, « The Fighter » (2010). Pour ce rôle, Leo a remporté le Golden Globe, le Screen Actors Guild Award et l'Oscar de la meilleure actrice dans un second rôle. Leo apparaît actuellement dans la série télévisée Treme. Leo réside actuellement à Stone Ridge, New York et a deux fils John Matthew Heard (né en 1987) et Adam (adopté - né en 1984).
