Johnny Depp est un acteur, réalisateur, guitariste, scénariste et producteur de cinéma américain, né le 9 juin 1963 à Owensboro, Kentucky. Il devient célèbre dans les années 1980 grâce à son rôle dans la série télévisée 21 Jump Street. Il a ensuite voulu se détacher de son image de jeune premier en se consacrant principalement à l'interprétation de personnages originaux et excentriques tels qu'Edward dans Edward aux mains d'argent, Raoul Duke (alter ego de l'écrivain Hunter S. Thompson) dans Las Vegas Parano, Ichabod Crane dans Sleepy Hollow, Jack Sparrow dans la saga Pirates des Caraïbes, le Chapelier fou dans Alice au pays des merveilles et Barnabas Collins dans Dark Shadows. Il a également interprété des personnages réels comme Ed Wood dans le film du même nom, Joseph D. Pistone dans Donnie Brasco, George Jung dans Blow et John Dillinger dans Public Enemies. Il incarne également Tonto dans Lone Ranger, naissance d'un héros. En 2016, il est choisi pour incarner le personnage de Gellert Grindelwald, célèbre mage noir de l'univers d'Harry Potter dans la saga des films "Les Animaux Fantastiques". D'une manière générale, les personnages les plus atypiques qu'il incarne sont aussi audacieux qu'originaux et se démarquent du commun des mortels. Au début des années 1990, il commence à collaborer avec celui qui est devenu son réalisateur fétiche et son ami, Tim Burton, avec lequel il a tourné huit films. De juin 1998 à juin 2012, il vit entre la France et les États-Unis avec la chanteuse et actrice française Vanessa Paradis, mère de ses deux enfants : Lily-Rose Melody, née le 27 mai 1999, et Jack John Christopher III, né le 9 avril 2002. Le 19 mai 2012, après quatorze années de relation amoureuse, le couple annonce sa séparation. En février 2015, il épouse Amber Heard et en mai 2016 elle demande le divorce avec une accusation de violence conjugale.
