A Bletchley Park, un castello non lontano da Londra, si insediano i massimi cervelli inglesi, scienziati, matematici, agenti segreti. Uno dei compiti più importanti è quello di decifrare l'Enigma, il nuovo codice di comunicazione del sommergibili tedeschi. Se non ci riusciranno la guerra - siamo nel 1943- potrebbe essere perduta. La ricerca è complicata dal "fattore umano": gelosie e sentimenti vari.
