Durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale una ragazza, figlia di un medico, si arruola come volontaria nell'esercito britannico. Durante il periodo di addestramento si innamora di un giovane volontario. Il giovane però, disgustato dalla guerra, diserta. Arrestato e condannato a morte ottiene di rivedere la ragazza. Mentre i due sono insieme un bombardamento rende possibile la fuga, ma il giovane preferisce restare per dare soccorso alle vittime.
